  1. Empowered Shama Helps Her Family Survive and Thrive

    Shama, 34 years, was struggling hard to manage her family household. Owing to irregular work of her husband who does odd work in painting, her situation was more worsened. She did not lose hope and aspired to start something to earn and move towards dignified life. TWEET extended appropriate support to her in opening up a Boutique in Delhi Abul Fazal area. A mother of 3 children, Shama’s life has turned out to be empowered as the small income has been helping her run household expenses and also, she ensures her children gets uninterrupted education.

  2. TWEET Launches Literacy Campaign

    The Women Empowerment and Education Trust flagged off a year-long PAN India campaign for freedom from literacy (FFI) with the slogan “Each one Teach 10” at the Press Club. The press conference was attended by all prominent media persons, the Chairperson, General Secretary, and the office bearers of TWEET. 

    Addressing the media fraternity, the chairperson of TWEET, Mrs. Rahamathunnisa, explained how illiteracy among women has been a hindrance to their empowerment. She further added that through this year-long Freedom From Illiteracy Campaign, TWEET aims at achieving functional literacy among the socially and economically marginalised women of our society to a large extent.

    Speaking at the media conference, the secretary, Mrs. Shaista Rafat, explained the action plan for the campaign. She explained how this campaign can be beneficial through volunteers and requested support from the media community, social workers, educators, students, and administration. She also said the message will be sent across universities and colleges.

    Team TWEET also answered the questions that were posed by the media. Answering a question, the chairperson said the first step to achieving the target is motivating beneficiaries as well as volunteers towards the journey of literacy.

  3. TWEET Launches Skill Development Center in Jahangirpuri, Delhi

    The newly developed Skill Development Centre in Jahangirpuri, Delhi was formally inaugurated by A. Rahmathunnisa, Chairperson, TWEET in the presence of Shaista Rafat, General Secretary.

    The Chairperson interacted on vital current issues especially on how the women could imbibe new skills to explore and start new income generation activities and develop self confidence. The women were also motivated to up bring their children properly and put emphasis on educating them.

  4. Amanatullah Khan, MLA, distributed Skill Training Certificates

    ‘TWEET, through its skill development initiative, is doing what is the government’s responsibility as well.’ These are the words of Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan, spoken at the certificate distribution function at TWEET’s skill development centre in Shramvihar, Delhi. Shaheen Bagh Police Station SI, Sheel Kumar, Shaita Rafat, General Secretary TWEET and Dr. Arif Navi, Manager-Health Department, Human Welfare Foundation, attended the graduation day of the six-month certified course in tailoring. The program was witnessed by around 70 people from the local community.

    All together, 20 girls received their certificates. With a pride of achievement on their faces, the young women who received their certificates expressed their pleasure and said that, with the help of this 6-month-long training in the stitching and tailoring trades at the TWEET Skill Development Centers in Shram Vihar, Delhi, they can now earn a dignified life for themselves and their families.

    According to General Secretary TWEET, only by improving the socioeconomic and educational conditions of women from all walks of life can we ensure our nation’s growth and development. She also added TWEET as a pan-India NGO, is striving to make India’s female population an equal contributor in the nation-building process.

  5. TWEET organizes single mother get-together at Vision Harmony Centre in Brijpuri, Delhi.

    The single mothers who had unfortunately lost their life partners always need holistic approach in reviving and reintegrating in the society. To contribute to this significant cause, The Women Education and Empowerment Trust adopted single mothers as part of its ‘Widow Support Program’.

    Shaista Rafat , General Secretary-TWEET, distributed financial assistance to the adopted mothers. She also conducted awareness session focusing on providing good nurture and parenting to the children and motivated the beneficiaries to regain their courage in integrating their lives and families. The single illiterate mothers were also encouraged to imbibe basic reading and writing skills. Total 25 mothers attended the program. Dr Sharnas Muthu, Treasure-TWEET did one on one counselling with attendees covering various socio-legal aspects.

  6. Skill Development Center inaugurated in Aligarh

    In a move to capacitate and empower girls and women around Aligarh city, TWEET has inaugurated another Skill Development Centre on 10th September 2022 at Siraj-ul-Uloom, Girls College, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.

    Named as Falah-e-Aam Sewing Centre, it was formally inaugurated by Rahamathunnissa (Chairperson, TWEET) in the presence of Shaista Rafat, General Secretary and Dr Sharnas Muthu, Treasurer.

    The beneficiaries of this Centre would be skilled to handle their works independently and connect them with market in order to empower them economically.

  7. Awareness Program on Health & Menstrual Hygiene in Brijpuri, North East Delhi

    Keeping in view the essence of basic health and menstrual hygiene among women and girls in North East Delhi’s Brijpuri locality, The Women Education & Empowerment Trust (TWEET) in collaboration with Health care department of Human Welfare Foundation organized awareness program cum health checkup on 02nd October 2022.

    Ms Shaista Rafat, General Secretary-TWEET briefed about the program. She also shared as how still the community thinks about this monthly procedure and various misconceptions and taboo attached to this.

    Dr Eram Khan of Alshifa Multispeciality Hospital, interacted with women and girls on what they know and think about menstrual hygiene and importance of using of sanitary napkins during the periods. She further explained on meaning of Health and how it is important to not only fit physically but also emotionally, psychologically, socially etc. “We must take proper nutrition and rest as we are doing hard work and also go through lot of stress”, she said.

The single illiterate mothers were also encouraged to imbibe basic reading and writing skills, Total 50 mothers attended the program.

  9. Get Together of Single Mothers

    With an objective to facilitate, motivate and interact with single mothers, TWEET organized get together of single mother at Bright Future Institute, Alekhargool in South Assam.

    TWEET’s Chairperson, Ms Rahamathunnissa delivered presidential address wherein she introduced TWEET and laid emphasis on the importance of education. She motivated the participants to move forward in life with confidence. Ms Jahanara, the organizer took a session on the qualities of a good mother.

    Rehana Sultana an eminent speaker from West Bengal did the concluding address emphasizing on effective parenting. Total 40 mothers attended the program.

  10. Get-together of single mothers in Guwahati

    More than 40 women participated and thanked TWEET for showing concern for them. With the active involvement of the resource persons, Nazneen Sultana, Rehana Yasmin Barbheriya, Makoni Begum, Monica Datta Choudhry, and Mahasweta Bhatacharya, who are educators at TSS, the get-together was an enlightenment for these mothers. Through an interactive session, the importance of good parenting was also highlighted. Answering a question posed by a few, the resource persons explained the importance of education and training, encouraged the mothers to put their wards in hostels, and assured them that this separation is in the best interest of their children.

    The attendees also opened about their challenges and difficulties in an open session.
