The Women Empowerment and Education Trust flagged off a year-long PAN India campaign for freedom from literacy (FFI) with the slogan “Each one Teach 10” at the Press Club. The press conference was attended by all prominent media persons, the Chairperson, General Secretary, and the office bearers of TWEET. 

Addressing the media fraternity, the chairperson of TWEET, Mrs. Rahamathunnisa, explained how illiteracy among women has been a hindrance to their empowerment. She further added that through this year-long Freedom From Illiteracy Campaign, TWEET aims at achieving functional literacy among the socially and economically marginalised women of our society to a large extent.

Speaking at the media conference, the secretary, Mrs. Shaista Rafat, explained the action plan for the campaign. She explained how this campaign can be beneficial through volunteers and requested support from the media community, social workers, educators, students, and administration. She also said the message will be sent across universities and colleges.

Team TWEET also answered the questions that were posed by the media. Answering a question, the chairperson said the first step to achieving the target is motivating beneficiaries as well as volunteers towards the journey of literacy.
