Haleema, a 33 year old women, who lives with her aged parents and an unmarried sister, has 90% disability. Her father is paralysed and bedridden for long time. Natives of West Bengal, Haleema’s family moved to Delhi in 1937 and has been living here since then. She has passed 12th Grade but disability was a hindrance in getting her a job. Due to the family’s poor financial condition, her sister remained unmarried.

Determined to change her family’s conditions, Haleema always held on to hope. With no regular source of income to meet even the basic needs of the family, she approached The Women Education & Empowerment Trust seeking assistance in setting up a detergent production unit at her residence in Jahngirpuri, Delhi.

TWEET provided Haleema with three days of FMCG training, financial assistance for equipment worth 13,400, and raw materials worth 22,917 as working capital, which included packaging materials, along with monitoring and supervision costs of 2,000.

Haleema along with her sister, now run the small-scale detergent production unit operating from her residence, which has brought a new lease of life for her family.
