In connection with the National Literacy Campaign, The Women Education and Empowerment Trust (TWEET) organised a workshop to orient the students of the Department of Social Work, Aligarh Muslim University, under the supervision of Rahamathunnisa, Chairperson, Shaista Rafat, General Secretary , and Dr Sharnas Muthu, Treasurer on the mission and vision of the Campaign.

Rahamathunnissaelucidated the students about VISION 2026 and TWEET. She mainly focused on the objectives, areas of intervention, and ongoing activities of TWEET.

Students were sensitized about the importance of the development of women and children irrespective of their caste, creed or community and to strive for gender equity and social harmony.

Shaista Rafat accentuated National Literacy Campaign, ‘Freedom From Illiteracy: Each One Teach Ten’, a programme focusing to provide functional literacy to adult women.

The session was concluded by Dr Sharnas Muttu. Joint initiative is needed to alleviate human sufferings to help people achieve real improvement and quality of live, she said.

Chairperson Department of Social Work Dr. Naseem Ahmed Khan, Faculty Members, Research Scholars and Students were present during the Program.
